For more than three decades, I have been looking at the land and waters of northern Michigan, endeavoring to evoke the sense of time and mystery I feel is important in my painting. The hours and days spent in looking at special places culminate, in the studio, where a painting may come to life in several hours or several years. The time it takes is the time it takes. David Grath has been painting the natural world throughout his career. His world is often where land and water interact in quiet places. Grath's paintings are in numerous collections - public, private, and corporate - in this country and abroad. He works and shows at his studio in Northport, Michigan.
