The Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce, as part of its commitment to promoting ethnic and cultural diversity, is proud to announce its partnership with NMC's Dennos Museum Center to present a new Global Diversity Series in Milliken Auditorium.
The Global Diversity Series will run late September 2009 to March 2010 and will present a variety of performances and guest artists that will feature sculpture, folk music, hoop dancing, gospel music, bluegrass music, Celtic band music, dance ensemble, and photography. Performers hail from China, the Lakota/Ojibwe tribe of South Dakota, Mexico, Canada, Ireland and India.
"One of the Chamber's highest priorities is to have an impact on our region's economic prosperity as evidenced by our support of the Grand Vision," said Chamber President/CEO Doug Luciani. "A strong arts and culture presence improves the quality of life in our region and, in turn, makes the region attractive to business and employees. The more diverse and globally connected we are, the better and stronger we are as a community."
The Chamber's sponsorship also will help provide a series of educational concerts and activities for students in schools throughout the region.
The Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce helps to grow business and build community in the four-county region encompassing Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska and Leelanau counties. It helps to grow business by promoting its members' businesses and delivering sales leads, providing cost-cutting benefits and sponsoring networking programs. It builds community by giving its members a voice in the growth of the region, bringing together groups to address the region's biggest issues and helping to recruit and retain enterprises in the area.
A complete schedule of Global Diversity Series events is available online at www.dennosmuseum.org. Tickets for individual events are now on sale online or by calling (231) 995-1553.
