12 Voices: Contemporary Quilts

Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc.'s "12 Voices" exhibition
will give viewers a rare, in-depth look at twelve of the best quilt
artists working today. Some are internationally known, and as mid-career
artists are familiar. Others are fresh faces displaying a strong and
promising talent. Most live in the United States; but the organization's
international membership was coincidentally reflected by the selection
of two international artists as well. Curated by Penny McMorris, the
following artists were selected--Deidre Adams, Teresa Barkley, Elizabeth
Busch, Linda Colsh, Judith Content, Angela Moll, Clare Plug, Joan
Schulze, Merle Axelrad Serlin, Susan Shie, Ginny Smith and Kathy Weaver.

Annual Cape Dorset Print Collection
October 17 - November 30, 2008
An exhibition of the new Inuit print release from Cape Dorset on Baffin
Island via Dorset Fine Arts in Toronto. This exhibition is shown in
association with the museum's signature collection of Inuit Art, one
of the largest and most historically complete collections in the United

Ancient Bronzes of the Asian Grasslands from the Arthur M.
Sackler Foundation
January 18 - April 5, 2009
Ancient Bronzes of the Asian Grasslands reveals how the ancient, horse-riding
cultures of Mongolia and Central Asia used the animal world as a source
of symbols to indicate tribe, social rank and connection to the spirit
world. The exhibition shows how these complex cultures helped facilitate
travel and trade along the Silk Road during the first millennia BCE.
The exhibition features more than 80 masterpieces of steppe art, including
bronze belt buckles, plaques, pendants, ornaments and weapons. Animal
motifs such as antlered stags, wild boars and birds of prey are a

Fred Petroskey: Paintings
January 18 - April 5, 2009
Selected works by regional this regional artist shown in association
with the release of a book on his work. Petroskey has been a life-long
resident of the region and is a notable portrait painter. |

Contemporary Japanese and Chinese Ceramics from Dai Ichi Gallery
April 26 - September 6, 2009
From the prestigious Dai Ichi Gallery in New York City, this exhibit
features the work of contemporary ceramicists from China and Japan,
juxtaposing the themes of Chinese work relationships, social issues
and human relationships with the Japanese attention to aesthetics
of form, texture, color and materials. Find

Up Stream: Fly Fishing in the American West
April 26 - September 6, 2009
An exhibition of Photography by noted photographer and fly fisherman,
Charles Lindsay. Lindsay visualizes the essence of fly fishing from
the perspective of fishing alone in a trout stream. The images explore
the experience both above and below the water. The images from below
the water lead to the Carbon exhibition. |

video/sound installations based on the microscopic worlds found in
