  • Lightpaintings by Stephen Knapp
    April 13 – August 31, 2008
  • The internationally renowned artist Stephen Knapp will present an exhibition of his spectacular light paintings. Knapp fills the walls with vibrant color using only mirrors, dichroic filters and focused light sources. The exhibition will feature a broad selection of his stunning creations in light.   • CalculArt and CANVAS: Creating and Exploring in 3D Virtual Reality Environment of Arts
    January 20 – August 31, 2008

    CANVAS (Collaborative Advanced Navigation Virtual Art Studio) is a 3-screened, back-projectioned portable virtual-reality open-lab used for research and teaching projects by faculty in the fine and applied arts at the

    University of Illinois. As a museum installation, CANVAS allows the visitor to call up 3D projected imagery from a computer and to also create their own imagery. A program called CalulArt that celebrates the integration of mathematics and the arts will be featured. More information on CANVAS can be found at here.

 

  • A Million Dollar Photo? A Rare Edward Weston Photograph from the Museum's Collection
    June 26– October 5, 2008

    The Dennos Museum Center was given this rare, original Edward Weston photographic print while under construction in 1989. Earlier this year, Sotheby's auctioned a print of the another print of the same image by Edward Weston for $1.6 million. Join us to celebrate the museum's growing collection and learn more about Edward Weston's life and work.   • A Growing Legacy: Recent Gifts to the Museum's Collection
    June 22 - October 5, 2008
    The Dennos Museum Center holds a collection of nearly 2,000 works. This exhibition features a selection of recently gifted works by artists and collectors. Including Georg Vihos' Captain Art and the Lady Muse Flew into the Rose Garden Touching a Feather from 2002, a large work made of 122 individual plates seen at left.

 

 


  • Collectible Posters and Prints
    May 1, 2008 - August 31, 2008
    The Lincoln Center List Poster and Print Program was established in 1962, making contemporary art of the highest quality available to the public. Fine print editions-along with handmade, collectible posters-are created by leading artists to commemorate Lincoln Center events and series.
