self-guided tours

Self-guided tours are available anytime during open hours. These tours allow students to explore the museum independently through available worksheets and writing activities. Clipboards and pencils are available for loan at the front desk.

In order to accommodate a guided tour a minimum of 2 weeks notice is necessary. Call (231) 995-1029 or use our online tour request form to book a tour.

admission rates

$4 per student

Teachers and aides are admitted free

One chaperone for every ten students is admitted free; additional chaperones are $6 per person

Suggested activities for self-guided visits

Writing Activities
Have students write poetry, letters, or essays based on artworks in the gallery. Pencils and clipboards can be provided at the Dennos front desk.

Sketching in the Galleries
Bring drawing paper, boards and pencils and sketch works in the galleries or the museum spaces. Follow a theme or technique for a more meaningful experience.

Elements of Art and Principles of Design
Focus on the elements and principles as a way to engage students in using art vocabulary. Resources are available here.
