Appraisal Day

Saturday, May 17, 2008, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Local art appraiser Don Butkovich will be at the Museum to verbally appraise your hidden treasures! Each person can bring a maximum of two items. The proceeds from a $5 fee per artwork will generously be donated to the Dennos Museum Center's museum programming fund. Reservations required, call (231) 995-1573 to reserve a time slot.

Arctic Travelogue

The Dennos Museum Center is sponsoring a tour of the Canadian Arctic in August or September 2009 in partnership with Adventure Canada Tours. Terry Tarnow will present a travelogue on Sunday, June 15, 2008 at 4:00 pm in the Dutmers Theatre. Tarnow has traveled to the Arctic twice with Adventure Canada: "My trips with Adventure Canada were incredible. I met many Inuit Artists and saw so much Canadian wildlife including polar bears, walrus, whales and birds." The trips include a resource team made up of Inuit artists and scholars, botanists, biologists, photographers, geologists and more. Quilting Workshops

This September the Dennos Museum Center will host the exhibition Twelve Voices, juried by Penny McMorris and organized by Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc. (SAQA). This exhibit explores the artistry and variety of contemporary art quilts. The Dennos will offer several workshops in association with this exhibit, focusing on collage and fabric design techniques.
The first workshop will be Collage: Haiku as Inspiration taught by Judith Content, an internationally recognized artist and president of SAQA. This workshop will take place Saturday, September 13, 2008 from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm (with a lunch break). The fee for this workshop is $80 for members, $90 for non-members. An additional materials fee of $25 should be paid to the instructor the day of the workshop. To register call (231) 995-1029 or email dbolander@nmc.edu. Group Tours

Group tours with knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and fun museum docents (tour guides) are a fun outing for a group of any age. Tour can focus on current exhibitions, or our permanent exhibition of Inuit Art. In your group is interested in a guided tour of the exhibitions with a museum docent, please use our online tour form.
