Jozsef Domján: Master of the Woodcut Traveling Exhibition

Jozsef Domján was a master printmaker, exploring the folklore of his native Hungary and his love of nature. This traveling exhibition consists of 20 examples of Domján woodcut prints from the 1970s and 1980s, along with eight batiks on silk by his wife Evelyn Domján.  The centerpiece of this exhibition is the print Stellar Bird and its woodblock, created for a special exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1971 to commemorate Albrecht Durer’s 500th birthday.  It is an honor to tour this woodblock, since the only other place Domján woodblocks are found outside his studio are in the Domján Museum of Sarospatak, Hungary.
